About Max Burda

Max Burda is a German football referee born on June 29, 1989 in Berlin. In addition to his career in refereeing, he is a criminal lawyer, having studied Law at the Humboldt University of Berlin and at the University Panthéon-Assas. He obtained his doctorate in 2020.

As a member of the club SC Staaken 1919 in the Berliner Fußball-Verband, Burda started his refereeing career in the 3. Liga in 2019. His first match in this category was on August 17, 2019, in the match between Viktoria Köln and SpVgg Unterhaching. In 2021, he was promoted to the 2. Bundesliga, making his debut on August 28, 2021 in the match between SV Darmstadt 98 and Hannover 96. Additionally, he has refereed matches in the DFB-Pokal in 2021 and 2023.

In addition to his role as the main referee, Burda has also served as an assistant referee in the DFB-Pokal, the 3. Liga, and the 2. Bundesliga. Since the end of the 2021/2022 season, he has focused exclusively on his role as the main referee and as the fourth official in matches of the Bundesliga and the DFB-Pokal.
