About Livio Marinelli

Livio Marinelli, born on November 6, 1984 in Tivoli, Italy, has forged a remarkable career in Italian refereeing. In addition to his work in football, he is a sergeant of the Italian Army, serving in the 7th Alpine Regiment, and has participated in peacekeeping missions in Afghanistan. 

His refereeing career started in 2002, ascending to Serie D in 2008 and Lega Pro in 2012. In 2016, he was promoted to Serie B, making his debut on August 27 in a match between Bari and Cittadella that ended 1-2. His first Serie A match took place on October 25, 2017, when he officiated the game between Atalanta and Verona, with the home team winning 3-0. 

Marinelli is recognized for his disciplined and meticulous approach on the field, reflecting his military background. Throughout his career, he has officiated high-profile matches, such as Cagliari against Roma on August 18, 2024. 

Internationally, on April 13, 2022, he made his debut as the main referee in a Cyprus National Cup match between Omonia Nicosia and AEL Limassol, which ended 0-0. Furthermore, he has collaborated in officiating matches in the Cypriot league, strengthening the cooperation between the Italian and Cypriot federations. 

Off the field, Marinelli shares moments of his personal life on social media, such as the birth of his son on August 31, 2024.
