Lawrence Visser, born on December 18, 1989 in Lommel, Belgium, is a Belgian football referee who has gained recognition in both national and international competitions. He made his debut in the Belgian Pro League on August 16, 2014, in a match between KV Oostende and KV Mechelen.
In 2017, Visser was included in the FIFA referees list, allowing him to officiate international matches. His rise continued in August 2020 when he was promoted to the second-highest category of UEFA referees, becoming the first Belgian to reach this level since Sébastien Delferière.
One of the highlights of his career came on September 28, 2021, when he debuted in the UEFA Champions League group stage, refereeing the match between Real Madrid and Sheriff Tiraspol at the Santiago Bernabéu Stadium.
In the 2024/2025 season, Visser has been assigned to high-profile matches, including the UEFA Europa League match between Lazio and Real Sociedad on January 23, 2025. His refereeing style is characterized by consistent application of the rules and effective communication with players, allowing him to maintain control during matches.
