About Clément Turpin

Clément Turpin, born on May 16, 1982 in Oullins, France, is an internationally recognized football referee. He began his career in Ligue 1 in 2008 and, in 2010, he was appointed as a FIFA referee, allowing him to officiate in European and world competitions.

Throughout his career, Turpin has officiated in prominent matches, including the 2021 UEFA Europa League final between Villarreal and Manchester United, and the 2022 UEFA Champions League final between Liverpool and Real Madrid. His refereeing style is characterized by being dialogue-oriented and balanced, seeking to maintain control of the game through effective communication with players.

A notable anecdote occurred in the semifinals of the 2018 UEFA Europa League, when he sent off Atlético de Madrid's player, Sime Vrsaljko, and later on coach Diego Simeone for protests, sparking controversy in the match against Arsenal.

In 2024, he was selected to officiate in the Euro Cup, including matches such as the opener between Germany and Scotland, and the clash between England and Slovenia, establishing himself as one of the most experienced referees in the European football scene.
