About M. Jug

Matej Jug, born on September 25, 1980 in Slovenia, is a football referee with a broad career in both national and international competitions. He started his refereeing career in 1997 and made his debut in the top division of Slovenian football in 2004. Since 2007, he has been an international FIFA referee, allowing him to officiate numerous matches in high-level European tournaments. 

Throughout the 2024/2025 season, Jug has been appointed to officiate prominent matches in the UEFA Europa League, including the clash between Real Sociedad and Ajax on November 28, 2024, which ended in a 2-0 victory for the Spanish team.  His experience and knowledge of the game enable him to effectively handle high-pressure matches, always maintaining clear and effective communication with the players.
