Alejandro Moncada Sánchez, born in Colombia, is a Colombian football referee who has had a distinguished career in the national refereeing field. He started his refereeing career motivated by his desire to stay connected to professional football. Before becoming a referee, Moncada played as a central defender at the Jackson Martínez Football School and even participated in the Primera C Category of the Antioquia League. However, recognizing the limitations to progress as a football player, he decided to focus his career on refereeing.
His refereeing training started at the Southwest Antioquia Referee Corporation (CASDA), where he not only works as a referee but also collaborates in the Preparation Commission. He made his debut in Colombian professional football on August 19, 2018, in a match of the Primera B Category between Llaneros F.C. and Bogotá F.C., which ended in a 1-1 draw. This debut marked a significant milestone in his career, consolidating his presence in the professional field.
Moncada has officiated numerous matches in the Primera B, accumulating experience and recognition. In February 2025, he was appointed to referee the match between Unión Magdalena and Millonarios, corresponding to the Liga BetPlay Dimayor I-2025, reflecting the confidence placed in his work by the Arbitration Committee. Furthermore, he has served as a fourth official in Primera A matches, expanding his experience in the highest category of Colombian football.
