Sebastián Zunino, born in 1988 in Ramos Mejía, is one of the names that has grown the most in Argentine refereeing. From his debut in Primera D in 2016 to his arrival in the Primera División in 2021, his ascent has been constant.
Of strict and firm style, Zunino doesn't hesitate to use cards when the match requires it. He demonstrated this in the Huracán - San Lorenzo classic in 2024, where he expelled two players and maintained control in the midst of a heated clash.
His career has not been free of controversies. In November 2024, a controversial penalty in favor of Huracán against Tigre put him in the center of criticism, even with VAR involved.
Already as a FIFA international referee since 2024, Zunino has also had presence outside the country, such as in the 2025 U-20 Copa Libertadores. A referee who, without seeking the spotlight, has managed to leave his mark on every pitch.
