Stephen Martin is an English referee from Staffordshire. He started his refereeing career in 2003 and, after a notable rise, made his debut as a linesman at the English Football League (EFL) in 2007. By the 2012/2013 season, he was already officiating matches in the Championship, establishing himself as a regular referee in this category.
Throughout his career, Martin has officiated numerous matches in the Championship, League One, and League Two. For instance, in the 2024/2025 season, he refereed notable matches such as Swansea City 3-0 Preston North End on August 17, 2024, and Middlesbrough 2-3 Sunderland on February 3, 2025.
A curious anecdote is that Stephen Martin is the son of Andy Martin, a former Premier League referee from the 1990s, suggesting that refereeing runs in the family.
