The Estadio Pedro Bidegain, popularly known as the Nuevo Gasómetro, is the stadium of Club Atlético San Lorenzo de Almagro, located at Avenida Perito Moreno 2145, in the neighborhood of Nueva Pompeya, Buenos Aires, Argentina. Inaugurated on December 16, 1993, this venue has a capacity for 47,964 spectators and features the largest playing field in the Argentine First Division, with dimensions of 110 x 70 meters.
The stadium was built to replace the old Gasómetro de Boedo, which had been expropriated in 1979. Since its inauguration, the Nuevo Gasómetro has witnessed important achievements of the club, including the championships of 1995, 2001, 2007 and 2013, as well as the international conquests of the Copa Mercosur 2001, the Copa Sudamericana 2002, and the long-awaited Copa Libertadores in 2014.
The stadium has undergone various renovations to enhance the fan experience and club facilities. In 1997, the stands were expanded and a roof was added to the Platea Norte. In 2007, the local semi-grandstand was built to increase capacity. Additionally, in 2014, the lighting was completely renovated, installing state-of-the-art LED lights. Between 2015 and 2016, improvements were made to the dressing rooms, the press room, and other key areas of the stadium.
The Nuevo Gasómetro is not only a symbol for San Lorenzo fans, but it has also been the stage for notable events in South American football. For example, it hosted the second leg final of the 2014 Copa Libertadores, where San Lorenzo was crowned champion for the first time in its history.
