Stadium Information

The Estádio de São Miguel, located in Ponta Delgada, on the island of São Miguel (Azores, Portugal), is the main sports venue in the archipelago and the home of Clube Desportivo Santa Clara, the most representative team in the region. Inaugurated in 1930, this stadium has witnessed the growth of football in the Azores and has hosted numerous nationally and internationally relevant sports events. 

With a capacity for 12,500 spectators, the stadium features a natural grass field measuring 105 x 68 meters. Over the years, it has undergone various renovations, highlighting those carried out in the 2008-2009 and 2013-2014 seasons, which included improvements in lighting, remodeling of seats, installation of new turf, and enhancement of outdoor spaces. 

The Estádio de São Miguel has been the venue for matches of the Portugal national team, with the most recent being a 2-0 victory against Egypt in 2005. Additionally, Santa Clara has played European competition matches at this venue, such as the Intertoto Cup 2002 and the UEFA Europa Conference League 2021-2022, establishing the stadium as the westernmost to host UEFA competition matches in Europe. 

Located approximately 10 minutes by car from downtown Ponta Delgada, the stadium offers free parking and accessible entrances for people with reduced mobility. These features, along with its natural surroundings and historical significance, make the Estádio de São Miguel a symbol of sports in the Azores and a reference point for football fans.
