The Philips Stadion, located in Eindhoven, Netherlands, is the home of PSV Eindhoven since its foundation in 1913. With a capacity for 35,119 spectators, it is the third largest football stadium in the country. Originally known as Philips Sportpark, it was built in 1910 as a sports field for the employees of the Philips company. The predecessor team, Philips Elftal, played there from 1911 until 1913, when it was succeeded by PSV.
Throughout its history, the stadium has undergone numerous extensions and renovations. The first wooden stand was built in 1916, and in the following decades more seats and standing areas for spectators were added. Significant renovations were carried out in the seventies and nineties, including the creation of a covered stadium and later the construction of a two-tiered venue with spacious commercial areas. The completion of the four corners in 2002 brought the stadium to its current capacity.
The Philips Stadion holds a four-star rating from UEFA. It has hosted several matches of the Netherlands national team since 1971 and hosted three group stage matches of UEFA Euro 2000, as well as the UEFA Cup final in 2006. In addition to football events, the stadium is occasionally used for musical concerts, offering space for around 30,000 visitors.
Furthermore, the stadium is home to the Avant-Garde restaurant, awarded with a Michelin star, offering a high-quality culinary experience within a football environment.
