Arena Fonte Nova, officially known as Complexo Esportivo Cultural Professor Octávio Mangabeira, is a football stadium located in Salvador, Bahia, Brazil. Inaugurated on April 7, 2013, it was built on the same site as the old Estádio Fonte Nova, which was demolished in 2010 to make way for this modern facility. The stadium's design maintains the characteristic horseshoe shape of its predecessor, with an opening towards Dique do Tororó, an adjacent natural spring, facilitating ventilation and offering panoramic views.
With a capacity to host 50,000 spectators, Arena Fonte Nova features three levels of covered stands, boxes, a panoramic restaurant, and approximately 2,000 parking spaces. Its structure is designed to be multifunctional, allowing the hosting of sports events, concerts, and other shows. Additionally, it incorporates sustainable technologies such as rainwater reuse and energy efficiency systems.
This stadium has been the venue for internationally significant events, including the 2013 FIFA Confederations Cup, the 2014 FIFA World Cup, and the soccer tournaments of the 2016 Summer Olympics. During the 2014 World Cup, it witnessed memorable matches, such as the surprising victory of the Netherlands over Spain by 5-1. Furthermore, it has hosted matches of the 2019 Copa America and is the home of Esporte Clube Bahia.
In 2013, the Itaipava brewery acquired the naming rights for the stadium, calling it “Itaipava Arena Fonte Nova” until 2023. Subsequently, in 2024, the company “Casa de Apostas” took over sponsorship, renaming it as “Casa de Apostas Arena Fonte Nova”. This agreement marked the first time a Brazilian stadium associated with the World Cup sold its naming rights to a private company.
