Stadium Information

The Sierra Nevada Stadium is a modern sports facility located in Santa Marta, Colombia. Inaugurated on November 11, 2017, it was built to host the 2017 Bolivarian Games, serving as the venue for the opening ceremony and the under-17 men's soccer competitions. 

With a capacity for 16,162 spectators, the stadium stands in the Bolivarian Sports Unit Sierra Nevada, in the Bureche sector, south of the city. This sports complex also includes a track and a BMX track, contributing to the sports development of the region. 

The Unión Magdalena, a historic team in Colombian soccer, adopted the Sierra Nevada Stadium as its home venue starting in 2018. This return marked the end of a period in which the club played its matches in other cities due to the closure of the old Eduardo Santos Stadium for structural problems. 

A noteworthy curiosity is that the stadium owes its name to the Sierra Nevada de Santa Marta, the highest coastal mountain range in the world and a natural symbol of the region. This tribute highlights the cultural and geographical richness of the area, connecting sports with the local environment.
