The Tele2 Arena, currently known as 3Arena since January 1, 2025, is a multifunctional stadium located in Johanneshov, south of the center of Stockholm, Sweden. Inaugurated on July 20, 2013, it was conceived to replace the old Söderstadion and provide a modern venue for the football clubs Hammarby IF and Djurgårdens IF, both competing in Allsvenskan, the Swedish top division. The project, designed by the studio White Arkitekter in collaboration with Arup and ROSSETTI, had an approximate cost of 2.7 billion Swedish kronor and was largely financed by the city of Stockholm.
This venue stands out for its retractable roof, which allows it to host events throughout the year, regardless of the weather conditions. Its capacity varies depending on the type of event: 30,000 spectators for football matches and up to 45,000 attendees for concerts. In addition, it meets the requirements of UEFA and FIFA for the hosting of international competitions. The exterior facade, made up of perforated aluminum panels, offers a modern aesthetic and allows natural light to enter, creating a bright and welcoming atmosphere inside.
Since its opening, the stadium has been the venue for numerous outstanding events. Among them, the concert by Madonna in 2015, which brought together 39,338 people, setting a record attendance. Likewise, in 2019, the Swedish House Mafia offered three consecutive concerts that drew more than 114,000 attendees in total. In the sporting field, it has hosted matches of the 2020 Men's European Handball Championship, establishing itself as a benchmark in the organization of large-scale events.
