The Libertadores de América - Ricardo Enrique Bochini Stadium is the home of Club Atlético Independiente, located in Avellaneda, Buenos Aires, Argentina. Originally opened in 1928 as the 'La Doble Visera de Cemento' stadium, it was one of the first cement stadiums in South America. After a major renovation, it reopened on October 28, 2009 with its current name, in honor of the seven Copa Libertadores titles won by the club and its greatest idol, Ricardo Bochini.
With a capacity for 42,069 spectators, the stadium features a modern design that includes four main stands: Erico, Bochini, Santoro, and Pavoni, in tribute to emblematic figures of the club. It also has VIP boxes, a museum, and press areas equipped with state-of-the-art technology.
Throughout its history, the stadium has been the venue for prominent events, such as the Copa Sudamericana finals in 2010 and 2017, and the Recopa Sudamericana finals in 2011 and 2018. It has also hosted matches of the Argentine national team and concerts by renowned international artists.
During the renovation, the Herminio Sande stand, built in 1971, was preserved as the only section that was not demolished from the original structure. In addition, the stadium is located just two blocks from Racing Club's stadium, its classic rival, making Avellaneda a city with one of the highest concentrations of football stadiums in the world.
