The Aspmyra Stadion is a football stadium located in the city of Bodø, Norway. Inaugurated in 1966, it has been the home of FK Bodø/Glimt, one of the country's most prominent clubs. Originally conceived as a multi-purpose stadium with a track and field, it has undergone various renovations to adapt to the needs of modern football.
Over the years, the stadium has undergone several significant renovations. Between 1999 and 2001, the track and field were removed and new stands were built, including a main stand on the south side with 15 luxury boxes and 100 VIP seats. In 2006, underground heated artificial turf was installed to face the harsh Arctic climate. In 2022, a new stand was added on the north side, increasing the total capacity to 8,270 seats, thus meeting UEFA requirements for European competitions.
The Aspmyra Stadion has not only witnessed thrilling local matches, but also international competitions. In 2002, it hosted a match between the Norwegian national team and Iceland, attracting 8,126 spectators. Furthermore, it has been a venue for concerts and cultural events, establishing itself as a key meeting point for the community of Bodø.
A notable curiosity is that, due to its geographical location above the Arctic Circle, during the summer months, matches can be played under the midnight sun, offering a unique experience for both players and fans. This natural phenomenon adds a special charm to the stadium, setting it apart from other sports venues in the world.
