Estadio Juan Maldonado Gamarra

Address Avenida Salomon Vilchez Murga Capacity 8.000
City Cutervo Surface artificial turf

The Juan Maldonado Gamarra Stadium is located in Cutervo, a city in the department of Cajamarca, in the northern highlands of Peru. It is the main sports venue in the region and has gained prominence in recent years due to the rise of the local club, Comerciantes Unidos, to the top categories of Peruvian football. The stadium is named after a former mayor of Cutervo, who was recognized for his promotion of sports infrastructure development in the area.

This venue was inaugurated in 2014, after a significant renovation that turned it into a modern stadium by regional standards. It has an approximate capacity of 8,000 to 12,000 spectators, although this figure has varied depending on temporary adaptations. Its design includes a covered main stand and an athletics track, making it also a useful space for other sports disciplines.

The most outstanding feature of the stadium is its geographical location: it is situated at an altitude of over 2,600 meters above sea level, making it a challenging venue for visiting teams, an advantage that Comerciantes Unidos has been able to capitalize on in national tournaments. During its time in the First Division of Peru, the venue was improved with upgrades to the pitch, dressing rooms, and lighting to meet the requirements of the professional league.
