Kenilworth Road, affectionately known as "The Kenny", is the football stadium of Luton Town Football Club since 1905. Located in the district of Bury Park, in Luton, Bedfordshire, England, this venue has witnessed over a century of footballing history. Over the years, it has hosted matches from lower leagues and, more recently, Premier League games, following Luton Town's promotion in the 2023-2024 season.
The stadium has an official capacity of 12,056 spectators and consists of five main stands: the Kenilworth Stand, the Main Stand, the David Preece Stand, the Oak Road End, and the Bobbers Stand. One of Kenilworth Road's most unique features is the entrance to the Oak Road End, nestled among a row of terraced houses, offering a distinctive experience to fans entering through there. Additionally, in March 2024, a safe standing area was completed in the Oak Road stand, increasing capacity by 800 seats and complying with modern safety regulations.
Kenilworth Road has been the stage for memorable moments, including women's and youth international matches. It notably hosted the second leg of the 1984 Women's European Championship final, where England faced Sweden. The stadium is also renowned for its intimate and close-knit atmosphere, praised by football figures like Jürgen Klopp, who expressed excitement about playing in a venue with such character.
Despite its charm and historic character, the club has acknowledged the need to modernize its facilities. In December 2024, plans were approved to construct a new 25,000-seat stadium at Power Court site, in central Luton. This new stadium is expected to be ready by 2027, marking the end of an era at Kenilworth Road and the beginning of a new chapter for Luton Town Football Club and its supporters.
