AFAS Stadion

El AFAS Stadion es un estadio de fútbol ubicado en Alkmaar, Países Bajos, y es la sede del club AZ Alkmaar. Inaugurado el 4 de agosto de 2006, reemplazó al antiguo Alkmaarderhout como hogar del equipo. En su partido inaugural, AZ enfrentó al Arsenal, resultando en una derrota 3-0, con Gilberto Silva anotando el primer gol en el nuevo estadio. 

Originalmente, el estadio tenía una capacidad de 17.023 espectadores. Sin embargo, tras una renovación en la temporada 2020-2021, que incluyó la instalación de un nuevo techo sostenido por una megaestructura, la capacidad aumentó a 19.500 asientos. Esta renovación mejoró significativamente la acústica y el confort para los aficionados. 

Una característica notable del AFAS Stadion es su nombre, derivado de la empresa de software holandesa AFAS, que adquirió los derechos de nombre en 2010. Curiosamente, durante los partidos europeos, debido a las regulaciones de la UEFA sobre patrocinadores, el estadio es referido como AZ Stadion. 

El estadio ha sido testigo de eventos significativos, incluyendo un colapso parcial del techo el 10 de agosto de 2019. Afortunadamente, no hubo heridos, pero el incidente obligó al AZ a jugar sus partidos como local en el Cars Jeans Stadion de La Haya mientras se realizaban las reparaciones. La renovación posterior no solo reparó el techo, sino que también mejoró las instalaciones generales del estadio.
