Oliver Langford

Oliver Langford is an English referee born in West Midlands. He began his refereeing career in 1995 and was promoted to the English Football League (EFL) referees' list in 2008. His first match in the Football League was on August 30, 2008, between Rochdale and Barnet in the League Two.

Langford has officiated over 500 matches in the EFL, including games in the Championship, League One, and League Two. In August 2024, he reached his 500th match in the EFL, overseeing the match between Leeds United and Portsmouth in the Championship.

A noteworthy anecdote in his career happened on August 18, 2019, when he unexpectedly made his debut in the Premier League. Originally assigned as the fourth official for the match between Chelsea and Leicester City, Langford took on the lead role after the designated referee, Graham Scott, arrived late due to traffic. The match ended in a 1-1 draw.

Throughout his career, Langford has been appointed to significant matches, including two Play-Off semifinals and the FA Youth Cup final between Chelsea and Manchester City in 2017.
