Szymon Marciniak

Szymon Marciniak, born on January 7, 1981 in Płock, Poland, is an internationally renowned football referee. He began his career in the Polish Ekstraklasa in 2009 and has been part of the FIFA referees list since 2011. 

Throughout his career, Marciniak has officiated high-profile matches, including the 2022 FIFA World Cup final between Argentina and France, and the 2023 UEFA Champions League final between Manchester City and Inter Milan. In recognition of his performance, he was named 'Best Referee in the World' by IFFHS in 2023 and 2024. 

In the 2024/2025 season, he has continued to referee notable matches. On November 6, 2024, he officiated the UEFA Champions League group stage match between Paris Saint-Germain and Atletico Madrid. 

Marciniak is known for his firm refereeing style and ability to handle high-pressure situations in decisive matches. His experience and professionalism have solidified him as one of the most respected referees in international football.
