The Malmö Stadion is a multi-purpose stadium located in Malmö, Sweden, opened in 1958 for the FIFA World Cup of that year. Designed by architects Fritz Jaenecke and Sten Samuelson, the stadium has a capacity for 26,500 spectators.
Throughout its history, Malmö Stadion has been the venue for highly relevant sports events. In addition to the 1958 World Cup, it hosted matches of the 1992 European Championship. Until 2008, it was the home of the football club Malmö FF, which then moved to the new Eleda Stadion in 2009.
Currently, the stadium is used for sports events and concerts, with a capacity that can be expanded to 40,000 people for musical shows. Local teams such as IFK Malmö have played their matches in this venue, maintaining its relevance in the city's sports community.
A notable curiosity is that, in 1991, Ukrainian athlete Sergei Bubka set a pole vault world record in this stadium, reaching a height of 6.10 meters during an athletics competition.
