About Chris Kavanagh

Chris Kavanagh, English referee born in 1985, is known in the Premier League for his ability to handle high-pressure matches. He started his career in local leagues and, thanks to his consistency, quickly made it to the National List of Referees in 2011. His promotion to the Premier League was a reflection of his skill to make quick and accurate decisions on the field.

Kavanagh is a physical and meticulous referee, capable of reading the game accurately, enabling him to keep up with the speed of elite football. Additionally, he is recognized for his psychological approach in managing players, engaging in dialogue with them to maintain control without immediately resorting to cards.

Although he has a reputation for remaining calm under pressure, his career has not been without controversies, especially with the introduction of VAR. Some of his decisions, particularly in crucial matches, have sparked debates. A clear example is the 2020 Manchester United vs. Liverpool match, where some of his mistakes were highly debated
