The Claudio “Chiqui” Tapia Stadium is the home of Club Atlético Barracas Central, located in the Barracas neighborhood, Buenos Aires, Argentina. Inaugurated in 1916, it was originally called Olavarría y Luna Stadium due to its location at the intersection of these streets. In 2008, it was renamed in honor of Claudio Fabián “Chiqui” Tapia, former player and president of the club, and current president of the Argentine Football Association (AFA).
Throughout its history, the stadium has undergone several renovations. In the 1970s, the wooden stands were replaced by cement structures, and in 2006 a new stand for visiting fans was opened. In 2011, eight press boxes were added, and the boxes were named after Julio Grondona and Hugo Moyano.
With an approximate capacity of 4,400 spectators, the stadium has been criticized for its limited seating for a team competing in the Argentine First Division. Nevertheless, in August 2022, the AFA authorized Barracas Central to play their home games at this venue.
A new stadium with an estimated capacity of 18,000 spectators has recently been announced for Barracas Central, representing a significant advancement for the club in terms of infrastructure and sports projection.
