The Eva Perón Stadium, also known as 'El Cemento', is the home of Club Atlético Sarmiento, located at the intersection of Arias and Necochea streets in Junín, Buenos Aires province, Argentina. Inaugurated on July 9, 1951, the stadium pays tribute to Eva Duarte de Perón, who lived in Junín during her youth and was a key figure in Argentine politics.
With a capacity for approximately 23,156 spectators, Eva Perón has popular stands, uncovered and covered stands, as well as boxes with a capacity for eight people each. In addition, it has modern facilities that include LED lighting, a restaurant, physiotherapy rooms, and broadcast cabins.
Throughout its history, the stadium has witnessed notable events, such as the performance of Joaquín Sabina on January 17, 2010, as part of his international tour 'Vinagre y rosas'. In addition to hosting Sarmiento's matches, Eva Perón has been the venue for Copa Argentina matches since the Round of 16 of the 2013-2014 edition, standing out as the stage for decisive matches in the tournament.
A remarkable curiosity is that, after the 1955 coup d'état, references to Eva Perón were removed from the stadium, including a bust in her honor. Decades later, on May 7, 2019, in commemoration of the centenary of her birth, the bust was restored, returning the stadium to its original tribute.
The Eva Perón Stadium is not only a sports symbol for Sarmiento's followers, but also a historical and cultural emblem for the city of Junín and its inhabitants.
