The Balaídos Stadium, known for sponsorship reasons as the Abanca-Balaídos Stadium, is the home of Real Club Celta de Vigo since its inauguration on December 30, 1928. In that inaugural match, Celta defeated Real Unión de Irún with a resounding 7-0, with Graciliano scoring the first goal in the stadium.
Designed by architect Jenaro de la Fuente, Balaídos has undergone several renovations throughout its history. The most recent one, started in 2015, has modernized its facilities and improved the fan experience. Currently, the stadium has a capacity of approximately 24,870 spectators, with plans to reach 27,000 once all renovations are completed.
In addition to hosting thrilling La Liga matches, Balaídos has hosted events of great significance, such as games from the 1982 Spain World Cup and concerts by international artists, including Madonna and The Rolling Stones.
