Arena Fonte Nova

La Arena Fonte Nova, oficialmente conocida como Complexo Esportivo Cultural Professor Octávio Mangabeira, es un estadio de fútbol situado en Salvador, Bahía, Brasil. Inaugurado el 7 de abril de 2013, fue construido en el mismo lugar donde se encontraba el antiguo Estádio Fonte Nova, que fue demolido en 2010 para dar paso a esta moderna instalación. El diseño del estadio mantiene la característica forma de herradura de su predecesor, con una apertura hacia el Dique do Tororó, un manantial natural adyacente, lo que favorece la ventilación y ofrece vistas panorámicas.

Con una capacidad para albergar a 50,000 espectadores, la Arena Fonte Nova cuenta con tres niveles de gradas cubiertas, palcos, un restaurante panorámico y aproximadamente 2,000 plazas de estacionamiento. Su estructura está diseñada para ser multifuncional, permitiendo la realización de eventos deportivos, conciertos y otros espectáculos. Además, incorpora tecnologías sostenibles, como la reutilización del agua de lluvia y sistemas de eficiencia energética.

Este estadio ha sido sede de eventos de gran relevancia internacional, incluyendo la Copa FIFA Confederaciones 2013, la Copa Mundial de la FIFA 2014 y los torneos de fútbol de los Juegos Olímpicos de Verano de 2016. Durante el Mundial de 2014, fue testigo de partidos memorables, como la sorprendente victoria de los Países Bajos sobre España por 5-1. Además, ha acogido encuentros de la Copa América 2019 y es el hogar del club Esporte Clube Bahia.

En 2013, la cervecería Itaipava adquirió los derechos de nombre del estadio, denominándolo “Itaipava Arena Fonte Nova” hasta 2023.
