Ermanno Feliciani

In the dynamic world of Italian football, Ermanno Feliciani has emerged as a prominent referee in the Serie A. Born in Italy, his career has been a steady progression through the lower divisions to reach the national elite of refereeing. Throughout his career, he has officiated a total of 119 matches, in which he has shown 496 yellow cards and 14 red cards, averaging 4.17 yellow cards per game. 

In the 2024/2025 season, Feliciani has led eight Serie A matches, in which he has shown 19 yellow cards and has not sent off any players.  His refereeing style is characterized by a strict application of the rules and a strong presence on the field, which has allowed him to maintain control in high-intensity matches.

However, his career has not been without controversies. In August 2024, during the opening match of the Serie A between Genoa and Inter Milan, Feliciani was criticized for a controversial decision. He awarded a penalty in favor of Inter after a contact between Marcus Thuram and Milan Badelj, despite Badelj cleanly winning the ball. The VAR intervened and corrected the decision, canceling the penalty. This incident sparked debate about his judgment in key situations. 

Despite these challenges, Feliciani has been appointed to high-profile matches, including clashes between renowned teams in Serie A. His ability to handle pressure and his commitment to the integrity of the game have allowed him to establish himself as a respected figure in Italian refereeing.
