About Benoît Millot

Benoît Millot, born on January 10, 1982 in Châtenay-Malabry, France, has built a remarkable career in football refereeing. His journey began in Ligue 2 in 2010, and just a year later, in 2011, he was promoted to the Ligue 1, the highest category of French football. His debut in this division took place on August 13, 2011, in a match between FC Sochaux and SM Caen.

In 2014, Millot achieved a significant milestone by being included in the list of FIFA international referees, which allowed him to officiate matches beyond French borders. That same year, on May 25, he officiated his first international match between the national teams of Mali and Guinea.

Throughout his career, he has been in charge of high-profile matches. One of the most notable was the Coupe de la Ligue final in 2019, where RC Strasbourg and EA Guingamp faced each other.

In addition to his on-field duties, Millot has played crucial roles as a Video Assistant Referee (VAR) in international tournaments. In 2019, he took part in the FIFA U-20 World Cup in Poland and the Africa Cup of Nations in Egypt, including the final between Senegal and Algeria. His experience and expertise were also recognized at the 2020 Tokyo Olympics, where he was selected as VAR for the football tournaments.

Millot's refereeing style is characterized by a precise interpretation of the rules and effective communication with players, earning him respect in the football world. His ability to handle high-pressure situations and his commitment to the integrity of the game have solidified him as a prominent figure in international refereeing.
