The Anoeta Stadium, known for sponsorship reasons as Reale Arena, is the home of Real Sociedad de Fútbol and is located in San Sebastián, in the Basque Country, Spain. Inaugurated on August 13, 1993, this stadium replaced the historic Atocha Stadium, serving as the team's main venue since then.
Originally, the stadium had an athletics track that separated fans from the field, which generated criticism for the lack of proximity and atmosphere. Between 2017 and 2019, significant renovations were carried out that removed the track and brought the stands closer to the field, increasing capacity to 39,313 spectators and significantly improving the atmosphere during matches.
In addition to being the home of Real Sociedad, Reale Arena has hosted prominent events, including rugby matches and concerts by renowned international artists. It was recently announced that the stadium will be one of the eleven venues in Spain for the 2030 FIFA World Cup, shared with Portugal and Morocco, highlighting its relevance in the international sports scene.
Following the renovations, the stadium was awarded the 2020 Prix Versailles World Prize in the sports category, recognizing its innovative design and functionality.
