The Gran Canaria Stadium, inaugurated on May 8, 2003, is the home of the Unión Deportiva Las Palmas. Located in the Siete Palmas neighborhood of Las Palmas de Gran Canaria, this sports venue has a capacity for 32,400 spectators and dimensions of 105 x 68 meters.
Originally designed as a multi-purpose stadium with an athletics track, significant renovations were carried out between 2014 and 2016, eliminating the track and bringing the stands closer to the field, providing a more intimate and vibrant atmosphere during matches.
Throughout its history, the stadium has been the setting for memorable events, such as the match against Rayo Vallecano in May 2006, which saw a record attendance of 35,000 fans. In addition to football matches, it has hosted concerts by renowned artists such as Shakira, Luis Miguel, and Bruce Springsteen, establishing itself as a cultural landmark on the island.
In May 2023, the Cabildo de Gran Canaria presented an ambitious stadium renovation project with the aim of being a host venue for the 2030 World Cup. The proposals include expanding its capacity and modernizing its facilities, adding a roof of metal trusses to improve spectator comfort and venue acoustics.
A notable curiosity is that, after the renovations, the stadium became one of the few in Spain that, without being newly built, removed its athletics track to bring the stands closer to the field, thus enhancing the fan experience.
