The Florencio Sola Stadium, affectionately known as 'El Lencho', is the home of Club Atlético Banfield, located in the city of Banfield, Buenos Aires province, Argentina. Inaugurated on October 6, 1940 with a friendly match against Independiente, where the visiting team won 1-0 with a goal from Arsenio Erico, this stadium was a pioneer in its time as one of the first in Argentina to have cement stands, even before some of the so-called 'big' clubs.
With a current capacity for approximately 34,900 spectators, the stadium is located between the streets Gallo, Arenales, Granaderos, and Lugano. Its name pays tribute to Florencio Sola, who presided over the club in two periods: 1938-1944 and 1947-1954.
Between 1950 and 1953, Banfield set a historic record in this stadium by remaining unbeaten for 49 consecutive home matches, a feat that still lives on in the memories of its fans.
In addition to being the venue for countless football matches, the Florencio Sola has hosted notable events, such as concerts by renowned Spanish artists Joaquín Sabina and Joan Manuel Serrat in 2011, which were part of the celebrations for the 150th anniversary of the city of Banfield.
