The Estadio Presidente Juan Domingo Perón, popularly known as “El Cilindro de Avellaneda”, is the stadium of Racing Club, located in the city of Avellaneda, Buenos Aires province, Argentina. Inaugurated on September 3, 1950, this emblematic sports venue owes its name to the Argentine president at that time, Juan Domingo Perón, who provided a loan for its construction.
With an approximate capacity of 51,000 spectators, the stadium stands out for its circular design, which gives it exceptional acoustics and visibility from any point. Over the years, it has been the stage for countless memorable matches, including games of the Argentine national team and finals of national and international tournaments.
A distinctive feature of “El Cilindro” is its imposing lighting tower, which at one point was one of the tallest in South America. Additionally, the stadium has an obelisk on one of its sides, a symbol that enhances its identity and sets it apart from other sports venues.
Throughout its history, the stadium has witnessed significant events, such as the opening and closing of the first Pan American Games in 1951. It has also hosted concerts by renowned international artists, establishing itself as a cultural and sports icon in Argentina.
