The Carlos Tartiere Municipal Stadium, located in Oviedo, Spain, is the home of Real Oviedo since its inauguration on September 20, 2000. With a capacity for 30,500 spectators, it is the largest sports venue in Asturias. This stadium replaced the old Carlos Tartiere, which had been inaugurated in 1932 and demolished in 2003.
Designed by architects Carlos Buxadé Ribot, Joan Margarit Consarnau, and Emilio Llano, the stadium features a rectangular structure of exposed reinforced concrete, with four towers at its corners for vertical communications, topped by pyramidal roofs. The façades, divided into two heights, are open in the form of porticos with a design resembling an aspa. The playing field measures 105 x 68 meters and is oriented north-south.
Since its opening, the Carlos Tartiere has been the venue for important sporting events, including matches of the Spanish national team and key encounters of Real Oviedo. Additionally, the stadium has a museum that offers fans the opportunity to explore the rich history of the club, displaying trophies, photographs, and memorabilia of emblematic moments.
Although the stadium was officially inaugurated on September 20, 2000 with a friendly match between Real Oviedo and Partizan Belgrade, the first official match was played three days earlier, on September 17, in a league match against UD Las Palmas that ended in a 2-2 draw. The first goal in this stadium was scored by Las Palmas' player, Robert Jarni, from a penalty.
