Estádio da Madeira

El Estádio da Madeira, también conocido como Estádio da Choupana, es la sede del Clube Desportivo Nacional, ubicado en las montañas al norte de Funchal, en la isla portuguesa de Madeira. Inaugurado en 2000, fue construido sobre una ladera con vistas panorámicas al océano Atlántico y a la ciudad, en un terreno que inicialmente parecía poco adecuado para una instalación deportiva. 

Originalmente llamado Estádio Engenheiro Rui Alves, en honor al presidente del club, el estadio fue renombrado en 2007 como Estádio da Madeira, tras un acuerdo con el gobierno regional para promover la isla. Ese mismo año, se añadió una nueva grada cubierta, aumentando la capacidad a 5.200 espectadores. El estadio cuenta con dos tribunas a lo largo del campo, mientras que las zonas detrás de las porterías están cerradas con vallas altas. 

Forma parte de la Cidade Desportiva do CD Nacional, un complejo que incluye el Cristiano Ronaldo Campus Futebol, nombrado en honor al famoso jugador que se formó en el club. Este campus cuenta con tres campos de entrenamiento, un hotel con 20 habitaciones, restaurante, sports bar, sala VIP, auditorio, laboratorio de imagen y un aparcamiento de tres niveles con capacidad para 700 vehículos. 

El estadio ha sido escenario de momentos memorables, incluyendo partidos contra grandes equipos portugueses y encuentros de competiciones europeas. Su ubicación elevada no solo ofrece vistas impresionantes, sino que también representa un desafío logístico debido a las condiciones climáticas variables. A pesar de su tamaño modesto, el Estádio da Madeira es un símbolo del crecimiento y la ambición del CD Nacional en el fútbol portugués.
