The Signal Iduna Park, originally known as Westfalenstadion, is the iconic stadium of Borussia Dortmund, located in Dortmund, Germany. Inaugurated in 1974, it was built for the FIFA World Cup of that year. Since then, it has undergone several expansions and renovations that have made it the largest stadium in Germany, with a capacity of 81,365 spectators for domestic matches and 66,099 for international games, where all seats must be seated.
One of the most outstanding features of the stadium is its famous Südtribüne, known as the “Yellow Wall”. This south stand is the largest standing terrace in Europe, accommodating 25,000 fans who create a unique and vibrant atmosphere in every match. During European competitions, due to UEFA regulations, the capacity of this section is reduced to accommodate seats, but the passion of the fans remains unchanged.
Throughout its history, the Signal Iduna Park has been the stage for highly relevant football events, including matches of the 2006 FIFA World Cup and memorable UEFA Champions League encounters. Additionally, the stadium has been selected as one of the venues for Euro 2024, where it will host several matches, including a semifinal.
