The Stadio Giuseppe Sinigaglia, opened on July 30, 1927, is the home of Como 1907, located in the city of Como, Italy. Designed by architect Giovanni Greppi, it is a prominent example of Italian rationalist architecture. The stadium is named after Giuseppe Sinigaglia, a local rower and war hero who died in World War I.
Located on the shores of Lake Como, the stadium offers stunning panoramic views, making it one of the most picturesque sports venues in the world. Its proximity to the lake allows spectators to enjoy a unique natural environment while attending matches.
Throughout its history, the stadium has undergone several renovations, with the most recent one in 2024, when its capacity was increased to 10,584 spectators to meet the standards of the Serie A, after Como 1907's promotion following 21 years. The improvements included the installation of glass panels to protect against the wind and the renovation of the entrances.
In addition to football matches, the Stadio Giuseppe Sinigaglia has hosted notable events, such as concerts by Deep Purple in 2004 and Jovanotti in 2008, as well as stages of the Giro di Lombardia in several editions. These activities highlight the stadium's versatility as a sports and cultural center in the region.
An interesting fact is that, due to its proximity to a seaplane base, two of the stadium's four lighting towers are painted in white and red to alert aircraft, and one of them has a windsock to indicate weather conditions to pilots.
