The Monumental Presidente José Fierro Stadium is the sports venue of Club Atlético Tucumán, located in San Miguel de Tucumán, Argentina. Inaugurated on May 21, 1922, it is located at the intersection of 25 de Mayo and Chile streets, in the Villa 9 de Julio neighborhood. With a capacity for 35,200 spectators, it is the largest stadium in Tucumán and one of the most prominent in northwest Argentina.
Designed by the Spanish architect José Graña, the stadium was a pioneer in the region at the time, being the first in the northern region of the country to have a covered and cement grandstand. Originally called "Grand Stadium" for its monumental features, in 1938 it was renamed José Fierro in honor of one of the founding members and the club's second president.
The Monumental José Fierro has been the setting for highly significant sporting events. In addition to Atlético Tucumán matches, it has hosted matches of the Argentine rugby team and the Tucumán rugby team against international teams. In 1945, it was the venue for the final of the Copa General Pedro Ramírez, where San Martín de Tucumán became champions by defeating Newell's Old Boys 3-1.
In recent years, the stadium has undergone various renovations to enhance the spectator experience and modernize its facilities. Between 2018 and 2019, expansions were carried out that included the construction of two new stands, a revamped press room, and updated dressing rooms for players and referees. These improvements have cemented the Monumental José Fierro as a sporting and cultural reference in the region.
